Precocious, outspoken child-teen starlet of the 1990s, Christina Ricci was born on the 12th of February 1980 in Santa Monica, California, the youngest of 4 children of a lawyer father and realtor mother. I've heard her real name is Francesca Lopez, but I have found no confirmation of this. She made her screen debut at the age of 9 in Mermaids (1990) in which she worked with Cher. Her breakthrough adult role was in Ice Storm, The (1997) in which she plays a nymphet who skillfully seduces 2 brothers. Candid and controversial, as well as a highly skilled actress, Christina was much in demand by film makers in the late 1990s. In 1999, at the age of 19, she directed and worked on the screenplay for the movie Asylum (1996). A compulsive talker and smoker who seems to have a new and refreshing view on every subject, the buxom Christina is becoming a top box office draw and seems to be destined for super-stardom in the new century.
Christina currently lives in L.A., and is working on (or recently has worked on) Miranda, Pumpkin, Adrenalin, All Over the Guy and Prozac Nation.
Her parents divorced after she filmed Addams Family Values (1993). She has not spoken with her father since.
Is on the national board of VOX-Voices for Planned Parenthood, which works to promote the mission of Planned Parenthood to young adults. She will also be appearing in national ads for Emergency Contraception.
Had to turn down the role of Ronna in Go (1999) because of scheduling. conflicts.
Used to live with Matthew Frauman.
Was turned down four times for the role of Lolita in Lolita (1997), which eventually went to Dominique Swain.
Christina's best friend is Gaby Hoffmann who she has co-starred with in Now and Then (1995) and 200 Cigarettes (1999).
Her father, before becoming a lawyer, was a psychiatrist who specialized in shrieking therapy. While growing up, Christina could hear the therapies through the vents in her room, and would act them out in front her mother.
On November 4 1999, she appeared on "Saturday Night Live" as the guest host. During one of her skits, she accidentally punched actress Ana Gasteyer in the face. The skit was a parody of the "Sally" show, in which she played a 13-year-old runaway who sleeps with doggs, and required her to fake-punch Sally (Gasteyer), but accidentally hit her for real. While she initially reacted by putting her hands over her mouth in surprise, she maintained her professionalism and quickly fell back into character.
Auditioned for the role of Young Amy in Little Women (1994) and Claudia in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994). Both roles went to Kirsten Dunst instead.
First nude scene was in the movie Prozac Nation (2001) in which she requested a closed set and had co-star Michelle Williams present to ensure that she did everything properly.
Drives a Porsche Boxster.
Was originally slated to play the lead in Ghost World (2001), but by the time it was filmed she was too old for the part and had moved on to other projects. Thora Birch took over the role.
Christina rejected a part in "Loser" because she had to say the line "I swallowed your cum and you won't let me sleep on your couch?". Mena Suvari took the part after Christina rejected it.
